It was all hands to the deck in Corwen at the weekend as around 40 volunteers gathered to tidy up the area.
Over 50 bags of rubbish were collected by the volunteers who gathered for two hours on Sunday, March 8, to make the area that much cleaner.
Local Police Community Support Officer Ceri-Louise Evans organised the event with the Corwen youth football club after she succeeded in gaining a Police And Community Trust grant to help with their Christmas party.
“It was amazing!” said PCSO Evans, who has also recently helped secure a £202 grant from PACT for Corwen Tidy Towns to help buy equipment. “Volunteers of all ages came along – many were youngsters from 8 years old upwards, to help out. In all we collected 53 bags of rubbish and concentrated on the area around the football and rugby fields. We then went near to where the steam train arrives and finished off the litter picking there. I’d like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to help.”
Ian Evans, the Head Coach said: “The event was arranged at short notice but the uptake from the parents and kids from the club was fantastic to see. In the couple of hours they were out and about the group collected 53 bags of rubbish from the areas visited. The most pleasing aspect of the day was seeing how much pride the children have for their ground and local community.”
