Our partners at Theatr Clwyd, led by Creative Engagement Associate Emyr John, have developed an award-winning education programme that uses professional actors to examine, in a hard-hitting and realistic drama, key issues about the criminal justice system and young people.
It is a dynamic and transformative educational workshop which aims to
- prevent young people from committing crime
- raise awareness about the criminal justice system
- understand the consequences of criminal/anti-social activities
- explore the impact of such behaviour on the offender, victim and the wider community
- understand the long-term implications of criminal behaviour on themselves and the rest of society
- encourage healthy relationships and good citizenship
A key feature of the programme is its ability to respond each year to current topics of concern in schools as related by teachers and School Police Officers. Since 2010 Justice in a Day has covered issues such as social media bullying, youth violence and steroid abuse, and more recently has focussed on the growing emergence of County Lines and its associated themes including child exploitation, knife crime and vulnerable young people.
