We are delighted to support PC Richard Fishlock, with his poster campaign recently seen in Wrexham and this week in Rhyl.
PC Fishlock is a Hate Crime Officer with North Wales Police’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team and devised this campaign with Dynamic, a centre for Children and young people with disabilities based in Wrexham. The group worked with PC Fishlock on the design while also having the opportunity to gain experience about hate crime through hate awareness sessions. The Rhyl campaign saw North Wales wide LGBTQ+ community groups and allies come together at Colwyn Bay HQ to discuss key issues and ideas. It was one of the first large scale face to face meetings we have run since covid restrictions dropped and was great to be able to host such an important group discussion. During the meeting they also worked with PC Fishlock on the design which features on in Rhyl this week.
PC Fishlock said “Hate crime has risen by 28% since last year so it is important to send clear messages to public. This will have a great local feel to it as it has come from the community itself. I would like to thank the young people of Dynamic and the LGBTQ+ members for getting involved and supporting this work, while also thanking our funders PACT and the Police and Crime Commissioner.”
