Saltney Ferry PCSO Dan Hughes has been busy this summer helping to organise diversionary activities for local youths.
Two Panna Cage Football sessions have taken place recent weeks to help youths engage with the community and reduce anti- social behaviour.
The scheme is managed by the Streetworx Project in Chester. After successful events in Blacon and Lache, PCSO Dan Hughes, who works closely with Cheshire Neighbourhood Policing Unit, decided it would benefit the youths of Saltney to bring it over the border.
He said; “At least 40 youths have taken part, giving me, local youth services and Streetworx the chance to engage with the youths and local residents who came out to support the events.
“We discussed a wide range of issues and residents could see the positive effects of the activities.
StreetWorx uses various outlets to work with young people and reduce anti- social behaviour including youth work, a drop-in centre, working with schools and Panna Cage football.”
The Saltney Ferry activities have been supported with funding from the Police And Community Trust (PACT), Saltney Youth Club, Flintshire Youth Services and Saltney Ferry Tenants and Residents Association.
