During February half term a community pride project will be held in Llanfaes.
The aim of the project, organised by PCSO Natalie Tookey, is to bring the local community together to form a committee for the Anglesey village so that a play park can be provided for the children.
On Monday 24th February PCSO Tookey will be staging a community day on a St David’s Day theme, in the community centre in Llanfaes.
She will be working with Siwan Owens, a play co-ordinator from Anglesey County Council, who will actively engage with the parents with the aim of encouraging them to join the committee to help provide greater support to the existing committee members and interact with the children of the village to ascertain what they want in their community with regards to play areas/activities.
On Tuesday 25th February PCSO Tookey will be working with Una Jones, a youth worker from Anglesey County Council, and taking the youths to Haulfre residential home in Llangoed.
Working with Age Well, the youths will attend the community centre to be trained on using the interview equipment, which they will then use to conduct interviews with the elderly, interviews to be broadcasted on MON FM at a later date.
The youths will then host a game of bingo for the elderly to engage in intergenerational working.
On Wednesday 26th February the PCSO will be working with Tidy Towns Wales and the youths to conduct a litter pick and general clean-up of the village. They will aim to clear an area for a new play pod to be installed and in time a park.
And on Thursday 27th February the youngsters will be rewarded for their assistance with a trip to Cineworld in Llandudno Junction.
