North Wales Police, the Isle of Anglesey County Council (Waste Management Section,) Keep Wales Tidy, Tidy Towns, Waitrose, Pentraeth Nurseries and Ysgol Gynradd Beaumaris teamed up recently to smarten up a local park and hopefully aide in the reduction of Anti Social behaviour.
On Tuesday 10th July 2012, Beaumaris Primary School pupils planted flowers in two of the raised flower beds in the Thomas Close Park, Beaumaris. The benefits of this initiative will firstly teach the children about basic gardening, and also to have pride for their local park. This coincides with local Neighbourhood Policing by involving local children taking care and pride of their park, encouraging others to do likewise and hopefully reduce incidents of Anti Social Behaviour.
Local PCSO Caitlin Mcgonigle of North Wales Police praised the commitment and enthusiasm of all those who took part
and is confident it will have an impact locally. She said “When an area is tidied up, particularly by local youngsters it develops a sense of pride and ownership of their community as well as discouraging underage drinking and other forms of Anti Social Behaviour. The local children also picked up some new skills and just as important we all had a good and productive time which will benefit the whole community.
“I’d like to thank all those who took part and Police and Community Trust for providing a grant which helped towards make all this possible”
