Supported by PACT, North Wales Police are taking part in an exciting new initiative aimed at protecting woodland areas.
Together with the Forestry Commission, Countryside Council for Wales, the Woodland Trust, Conwy Council, the Arson Reduction Team and local members of the community and schools they are launching Woodland Watch on Thursday 22nd March.
The pilot area for the scheme is Gwrych Castle woods/Rhyd Y Foel mountain and Tan Y Gopa, Abergele.
PCSO Niki Lodge said: “We plan to visit the site with local schoolchildren and spend about an hour putting up bird and bat boxes and picking up litter.
“We will also put up the new Woodland Watch signs and generally improve and tidy the area.
“All the above agencies and their representatives will be at the launch along with community councillors, local school children and the High Sheriff of Clwyd, Lloyd FitzHugh.”
