Last Saturday (29th September) saw over 2,000 people turn out at North Wales Police’s Colwyn Bay HQ for the force’s second Open Day in recent years.
With a huge variety of stalls and activities to interest all the family, there was something for everyone:
- A Dog Section display and an opportunity to meet the handlers
- The Firearms Team, their patrol vehicles and an opportunity to utilise specialist equipment
- Taser demonstrations
- The RAF Search and Rescue Helicopter
- The Crime Scene Investigation Team
- The Bikesafe trailer
- An opportunity to learn more about the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioners
- School Community Police Officers and Bobi the talking police car
- A Forensic Collision Investigation Unit and the Joint Underwater Search Team operate
PACT was in attendance with our Justice in a Day team, supported by volunteers from Choose Life , who gave visitors and insight on what life “inside” is really like.
Dave Evans and Annie Dayson from Clwyd Theatr Cymru profiled the Justice in a Day schools workshop, and Dave also outlined the work of the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat youth fund.
It was very good to see so many people, young and old, interacting with the police, finding out how approachable they are and the huge range of services that they provide.
