A Police Community Support Officer has helped to recently fund the installation of CCTV cameras in Parc Heol playground, Bala.

Parc Heol is a community run group located on Castle Street, and the park is open to school children and residents of nearby estates.

The South Gwynedd Safer Neighbourhood Team is fully supportive of Parc Heol’s development, as it offers a safe haven for children and helps reduce Anti-Social Behaviour issues.

The park is also next to Bala Football Club and the Bowling Club.

PCSO Lona Davenport applied for a Police and Community Trust [PACT] grant which was used to buy and maintain the CCTV cameras.

PCSO Davenport said: “This means that it at busier times, noticing suspicious activity will be easier, and parents can be reassured by the extra security.

“CCTV is a great deterrent for ASB and vandalism, as well as making it easier to catch suspects who appear on camera.”

The ‘Small PACT Grant’ of £250 was presented to parents Ffion Roberts, Lona Thomas, Hayley Harland and Mair Roberts last November.

The committee group have expressed their gratitude for the continuing support North Wales Police has given, stating PCSO Davenport’s donation is sure to have a big impact on community reassurance
